Camp, Hike, Climb, Repeat...

Camp, Hike, Climb, Repeat... like every weekend. Basically that's how it is. If we aren't sleeping in our beds we are sleeping on the hard ground and of course Nate can be found climbing every Saturday, sometimes we tag a long, sometimes not, but this fall we've been getting out to enjoy it more than usual.

The Hello Fall Hike...

Climbing at the Gorge and a wall we have been to many times. I enjoyed the hike to here. It was sunny but didn't make me feel like I was melting with the extra wiggly weight I was carrying. Other kids for our kids to play with and lots of friends to enjoy climbing with. It was a good day.

The Hike That Took Forever...

The Gorge, once again. Just assume that we are always at the Gorge and if I say differently then you will know. A wall that none of us had been to, so we were unsure of exactly how to get there. A path that looked like a path but was really a runoff bed that led to nowhere. We ended up hiking forever through brush and trees and bugs. But once at the wall all was well. The kids enjoyed getting dirty and all the guys enjoyed the climb.

The Enchanted Land Hike...

Nate and I decided we would go explore around, he wanted to look at a climb, we tagged along. Our drive down there was typical, long and boring. We had to basically drive through the Gorge to get to where this climb was. I was reading in the climbing book the directions to Nate which were all clear until we got to the part that says "look for the National Forest sign and park by it". We drove right past the spot thinking it would be a large sign. It turned out to be a post-it note stapled to the tree... well pretty much.

A 10 minute walk through a field, a 10 minute walk through the trees and then a 20 min hike through steep rocky cliffs in a secret entrance to the enchanted land. Kind of hard when you have a kid strapped to you back but worth it nonetheless. It felt like we were the only ones in this little place, I kept expecting some fairy type creatures to show up, but no. Once we came back out of the cave like entrance, we were back in human world. You might think I am weird but thats really what it felt like. We didn't climb as it was only Nate and I and we ran out of time but nothing beats the adventure in the wild. And yes Sage is too lazy to walk, Dane!
