I am so incredibly late in posting these pictures. I don't know why it has taken me so long and I really feel bad about it because they are so DANG CUTE!!! But without further ado...
To keep in line with her over the top birthday party, I did a cake smash session with the birthday girl.

Paisley's One Year Stats:
Weighs 20 lbs 4.8 oz
30 1/4 inches tall
Paisley is one amazing little girl, she has the cutest personality and it grows on us every day. She loves to follow Sage around, loves to "bother" him and loves to mimic him. She catches on to things very quickly. She climbs all over everything, she gets into everything, literally, she's just as bad as Sage was.
She is signing very well, can sign- signing time, baby, eat, more, milk, hot, thank you, mom, grandma, dad, and grandpa. She can say signing time, milk, bye bye, mom, dad, dog, box, no no, uh-oh, baby, up, down, hot, night night, grandma, papa, bubble and chicken. She knows what outside, bath, shower, door, turn page, hot, lotion and brush hair mean. she actually understands a lot and does what we ask her to do.
She is definitely a girl, she loves to be lathered in lotion, let me brush her hair and make her pretty. She is very delicate when she picks things up and just moves around so much differently than Sage/boys. She loves to read books, loves her "pony", can't leave her bed without her. She sleeps well through the night, most of the time. She is a very content little bean who self entertains. We love her with all our heart and are so grateful to have her in our lives!!
I made all of the cakes at once and froze the two rounds I was using for this. The week after her party I thawed the cakes and began decorating the cake. I must have frosted it 4 or 5 times before I gave up and did a smooth coat with frosting swirls at the bottom. What I was going for was a ruffle cake, seen here. Good old Martha had me beat on this one. I even followed video tutorials and still couldn't get it right. I think my buttercream was the problem, it was heavy and immediately started slouching from gravity.
After I had changed the cake decoration, I decided to use a banner for the top, matches the large one for her birthday party. I set up our little photo shoot with some more party props and dressed the princess for her smash session. I sat her down and she just looked at the cake, I thought she would really get into it, but she was super timid. I actually had to take her hand and put it in the cake, I don't think she knew what to do with it. I put some frosting on my finger and gave her a taste. Thats when the party began. She quickly realized that the cake was food and she started digging in, slowing and softly then handful after handful. She thoroughly enjoyed herself as I captured the perfect pictures. I can't get enough of this girl and I am so pleased with how this turned out!

That's the best one-year cake eating photo shoot I've ever seen! Paisley is so gorgeous. I will miss her sweetness while you are gone.... forever.... this summer! Come home.
